Sydney’s Electronic Music Conference (EMC) takes the city by storm for one week every year. The premier electronic music industry event in the Asia Pacific Region sees creatives flock from all corners of the globe, bringing together a cohort of industry professionals, curators, influencers and anyone passionate about electronic music culture and business.

EMC combines its week of conference style events with live music laden nights hosted at various venues across Sydney, proving itself to be an educational, interactive and unforgettable experience for patrons.

THE SOLUTION

EMC were ready to create a streamlined event experience in 2018 for their attendees, integrating Token RFID to take their event to the next level. INTRODUCING “HANDSHAKE”

Token’s exciting new Handshake feature is bringing networking into the 21st Century by replacing business cards with powerful RFID technology, revolutionising the way we network with each other.

Launched for the first time at EMC 2018, attendees were able to visit a connect station and tap their RFID wristbands preloaded with their contact details; exchanging their information once they’d networked with like minded professionals. Detailed reports about who they connected with were emailed after the event, providing simplified and streamlined information at the click of a button.

By activating their wristbands at a connect station and exchanging details, conference goers were able to participate in a new and exciting event experience that will no doubt see a shift in the future of conference style events and shape the way we interact and network with peers.

THE RESULTS

Token’s integration with EMC was a success, with every attendee activating their RFID wristband at the conference’s various sessions and seminars. Token was able to identify which activations and talks received the highest volume of traffic, allowing event organisers to unlock which points of discussion interested their audience most to tailor future events to their passionate crowd.

With Token RFID tracking each scan unique to its wristband wearer, event organisers were able to identify their most engaged audience members with the highest number of wristband activations. This powerful data would otherwise not have been collected without the use of RFID.

By using their wristbands in conjunction with Handshake, EMC were able to open new doors for communication and create a sense of community between attendees from all over the globe who attended to share, discover and learn about electronic music business and culture.
